High limit wire rubbed against the inducer motor and shorted out the high limit. I fixed wire and then furnace kicked on as it should. When I put the door to the furnace back on, the flame died due to lack of oxygen for the flame. I inspected the system and made a couple adjustments to give the system more oxygen. Furnace ran with the door on without issue at departure.

When I arrived, the thermostat was set up for a heat pump system. System is in AC and furnace, so I switched wiring and reprogrammed thermostat to fit the system. I then checked out the furnace to see why it was not running and found that the flame sensor/board is acting up. I called distributor to order the parts And they did not have them in stock. I got the distributor to overnight the part instead of standard shipping. We will return tomorrow afternoon to install the part.

11/13/25 - Completed a full heating maintenance on one RTU. The filters were changed, the heat exchanger was checked, and proper operation was tested. Overall, the unit was in good condition, it was running well, and there were no issues found at this time.

I found unit 8.5D was trying to fire but the flames could not reach the full length of the flame rail so the flame sensor could read it. I pulled the rails and cleaned all the ports and reinstalled and tested the unit. Unit is running as it should be at this time but the contractor for the blower motor is recommended for replacement due to pitting and humming extremely loud.

Completed furnace, maintenance and inspection. I cleaned flame sensor, spark igniter, and wipe down furnace. I checked amp draws and tested components. I tested airflow and temp splits. Furnace is operating within manufacture specifications.

Today on the second floor there is a standing pilot gas furnace from what I believe to be from 1982. I performed non-invasive tests and visually checked it’s condition. There were several deficiencies discovered that will prevent this furnace from operating in a reliably safe manner. The gas valve is not working when energized even with the pilot lit without assistance. The flue pipe has rotted from the inside and is paper thin towards the furnace with rust present on the outside of all flue connections. There is a strong possibility that the inside of the double wall vent pipe is also compromised. The burner chambers have a large amount of rust inside the heat exchanger. Mr. Kraft requested the price to just change the gas valve and while that is well within our skill set, the extent of appropriate repairs needed to render this equipment safe for operation will unfortunately not be as simple. Customer called in about their backup battery we installed last year going off randomly. When testing system, system didn’t register loss of power when unplugged. Customer mentioned that they would hear the back up pump randomly go off. Sump pit is currently dry at this moment and hasn’t seen water in a few months. After speaking with management, we will go ahead and replace sump plum system with a different brand. Office will reach out to schedule for us to come back and replace system. Left primary pump plugged in and disabled back up system.

11/12/25 - Completed a full heating maintenance on two RTU’s. The filters were changed, the heat exchangers were checked, and proper operation was tested. The smaller and older RTU was in good condition, it was running well, and it had no issues at this time. Then, the larger RTU was also in good condition, the only issues found were that the BX65 was loose, and two of the contactors were pitted and showing some arcing, which those had been notated previously, but the unit was still running well at this time.

11-12-25 Arrived on site at 9:15, currently it is 9:27 James is not here. We’ve called him left messages. I left at 9:30. He needs to call us to set up the schedule.

Unhooked unit for install tomorrow a.m.

Customer called in needing wax ring replaced on toilet. Upon arrival, customer said that they’ve already replaced the wax ring on toilet in upstairs son bathroom and water leaks all way down to the basement. Customer believes that they didn’t install wax ring properly. When using shower or sink in same bathroom, it doesn’t leak. Just the toilet. Judging from the amount distance the toilet is to where the leak is at, leak is possibly the drain line itself that has a break or crack allowing water to run down all the way down the basement. If wax ring was not installed correctly, water would either came out on the flooring around toilet or water would drip down to first floor ceiling. I would recommend starting cutting Sheetrock in garage side to access toilet drain and chase till we find the leak. Customer wants estimate to replace wax ring. Gave estimate and customer passed on repairs and will call someone else.
