Customer called in with outdoor unit being down again. They were able to reset breaker and unit came back online. Arrived today and saw lockout code for rotor on diagnostic board for outdoor unit. Installed new hard start kit on unit to prevent locked rotor.

Customer called and said breaker tripped for one of the units again after removing hard start kit. Went and checked capacitor it tested with specs. Checked breaker pancake again an and realized breaker were undersized. 20Amp breakers were installed and were within spec but are minimal rating units are rated for 30Amp max, installed 30Amp breakers and letting units runs. Both systems started and were operating normally once new breakers were installed.

Went for an AC appointment today. Changed the filter. Static pressure test failed. Temperature split between the supply and return duct is low. Evaporator is clean and rust free. Outside system got washed. Compressor amperage passed, but fan motor is over amping. Refrigerant pressures met factory specifications. Capacitor passed. AC is up and running upon completion. Completed ac inspection all components tested to manufacture specifications. I recommended a duct cleaning to protect there new furnace and a hard start kit on the ac being 8 years old

Customer called for system down. Customer has history of issues with unit, found dual run capacitor was failed. Replaced capacitor and left hard start unwired, unit energized and ran no issues. Left hard start unwired to theory of hard start damaging capacitors. Systems both operating normally at time of departure.

After checking the system first I notice was that the wiring was a little bit messed up from the thermostat to the system. I fixed all the wiring cleaned, stripped and reconnected everything. Calling for air turned on everything except the condenser at first I thought it was the cap. However capacitor was full. Ithen checked the refrigerant level was 100% empty. Even if you push directly on the Schrader core, no pressure was coming out. I then check the condenser which was getting power, but then zero out. The compressor is shot in the system is completely empty. I then checked the furnace, which was riddled with cracks and holes. There is no way forward other than replacement. At least none that would make sense financially.

Customer called for a no cool. Found that furnace was engaging when call for cool was made but no signal to outdoor unit. Checked connections at furnace and found that one of the wires for the outdoor unit had slipped in the wire nut and was not making contact. Removed nut, placed wire in with others and retightened nut. Unit is operating normally at this time. Checked refrigerant pressures and unit is cooling within manufacturer specifications.

Arrived to do a performance maintenance. Set system for cooling. Measured the systems static pressure measured a temperature split between return and supply air. Checked interior of the furnace for cleanliness. Went outside and verified refrigerant levels. Verified operation of all electronic and mechanical components. Rinsed coil free of debris. Spoke with homeowner about the system. Air conditioning system is operational at this time.

After doing maintenance on an AC, I had to clean the coil because it was filthy. I showed before and after photos. After I cleaned it out, we had good refrigerant flow. However, the capacitor is quite low most likely because of all the work it’s had to go through with this filth on the coil. I recommend getting a capacitor before this one goes out to protect the condenser. And if possible, a hard start relay so that the system can last a lot longer. We also have very high static pressure but homeowners don’t want to do anything about this at this time.

Arrived for ac check today. Stared at furnace and checked static pressure, it is failing. Blower wheel is clean. Motor amps are good. There is a 22 degree temp split. At condensing unit all pressures and charge look good. All electrical components are running within manufacturing specs. I rinsed coil clean. System is running upon departure.
