Another 5-star service call from Trevor DePriest! He arrived spot-on time for the prearranged appointment to take care of our kitchen drain and vent pipe. He was able to completely and efficiently replace the vent pipe, and even snaked our dishwasher drain line while he was under the sink! When he inspected the area that we had planned for him to re-route the kitchen drain pipe in the basement, we hit a small speed bump. He took a second look at the PVC connection to the sewer stack and realized he didn't have the right gauge of pipe on his truck to connect to it. We discussed the options, and he said that, while the vent pipe was a must-do (because it had broken), the drain pipe re-routing was a nice-to-do (because the drain line is functional and the re-routing would make future maintenance easier, but the work was not necessary). I thought that was very trustworthy of him, and I very much appreciate his honesty about what must be done versus what is an upgrade. While he was here, I asked if he could look at our shower, which had been giving us some intermittent difficulty (dripping, but not constantly), and he kindly took the time to fully inspect the area, including the pipes behind the wall (via the access panel). He explained his recommended solution, which I agreed to, and we've already booked another appointment for him to do that work. I am very thankful to have such a competent and trustworthy plumber to turn to, especially since most of our plumbing is original to our house (1939)! I just have to talk about the AMAZING 5-star service we received from Trevor DePriest on what turned out to be a complex plumbing job. Trevor arrived yesterday to install our downstairs bathroom sink faucet and replace all the lines/shut-off valves (we'd tried replacing the faucet ourselves, and the lines were too old). He did a GREAT job putting in the new faucet and replacing the lines/valves (which entailed some specialized tools that only a plumber has, so we were glad we called him!); his clean-up of the area was impeccable, and he was done in a short time. While he was here, he performed a complimentary plumbing inspection; he noticed we needed a pressure-relief valve (we'd been notified about this by a different company and didn't have a chance to schedule the work earlier) and recommended a water heater flush (it was due for its annual flush). Again, he performed all this work in record time and cleaned up all the areas he had worked in. As he was turning the main water back on, he noticed water running down our basement wall; after some thorough detective work, he discovered our vent pipe for the kitchen drain had snapped (it was cast iron) and there was a block in the line below the kitchen sink, so it was running through the opening, behind the sink, and down the basement wall. He tried snaking the drain line immediately but the cable didn't reach far enough; he returned first thing this morning (shifting his schedule around to make that happen!) and, after snaking the drain pipe both from the sink and then from the access point in the basement, finally cleared the clog. Hurray!!
He is preparing the estimate to replace the vent pipe for the kitchen drain, and I will call to get that scheduled ASAP. In the meantime, it's a joy and relief to have a functional kitchen sink for the holidays! Trevor was kind, calm, and reassuring both yesterday and today, and I really felt comfortable with him in charge. THANK YOU, Trevor, for going over and above to take care of all our needs!!
